Classic "battle" tunic. Thick, three-layer, intended for early medieval fights. The cut of the tunic refers to Scandinavian textile finds, e.g. from Kragelund or Hedeby, and to early medieval European iconography.
Pattern of tunic is based on XI c. Codex aureus pultoviensi, Polish iluminated manuscript which shows figures of Piast era warriors.
This patters is suitable for other western armies like Holy Roman Empire, Frankia etc.
Very aesthetically sewn - it is a perfect example of the marriage of comfort, appearance and safety.
On the front, a thick, dense, 100% "loden" wool.
This wool is characterized by a very compact, slightly felted structure, which perfectly resists tearing and damage caused during the fight.
We use exclusively hand-woven wool textiles in a 2/2 twill weave, produced using traditional techniques. All fabrics are plant-dyed, resulting in natural, historically plausible colors consistent with early medieval dyeing practices.
In short - it is a caftan for many years! So remember the maxim of our grandparents "I can't afford to buy cheap".
The tunic consists of three layers.
- 100% wool
- durable damping
- comfortable lining
It does not restrict movement and is perfect for fighting!
Our work combines archaeological evidence with iconographic sources—manuscript illustrations, reliefs, and early medieval visual representations—allowing us to create garments that are both source-based and functional. The tunic can be worn as a standalone outer garment or as a base layer under cloaks, coats, or mail.
