A linen bottom dress in a frame cut - characteristic of Kievan Rus, but also suitable for a richer Scandinavian woman, where such dresses appeared as Rus imports. It is very spacious, it will easily accommodate both a slim filly and a pregnant mother. The neckline is gathered and tied with a ribbon.
The use of this cut of dress is evidenced by such finds as the dress from Gniezdovo and the dress from Pskov, and is additionally confirmed by ethnography.
Our work combines archaeological evidence with iconographic sources—manuscript illustrations, reliefs, and early medieval visual representations—allowing us to create garments that are both source-based and functional.
